Your knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office365 will be invaluable as you present various proposals and strategies to the executive team. Your ability to oversee projects and initiatives from conception to execution will allow us to build and improve our systems and procedures, and your efficiencies will help us to scale and grow. American Pest is a fun and energetic mid-size company located in the newly-developed community of Maple Lawn, in Fulton, Maryland (Howard County). We are a great company with a modern, attractive office with access to the latest technology. We currently employ 150 employees with 9 remote workers from Tampa, Florida to St. Louis, Missouri!

American Pest is part of Anticimex, a global pest control organization with a mission of being the leader in modern pest management. We expect to triple in size over the next two to three years and your position will be critical to help us grow, both through recruiting of new hires and assisting new employees who come on through acquisitions of other businesses. You will be the HR Manager and report to the Vice President of Finance.

Essential Duties

  • Direct the company's HR strategy, systems, and processes making improvements wherever possible
  • Gain deep insight into the operations of our business to implement strategy, accomplish hiring volume goals, identify staff development opportunities, and propose appropriate solutions to challenges
  • All functions relating to hiring, including
    • Job postings and descriptions
    • Recruiting strategy and optimization
    • Onboarding and orientation of new hires
  • Address employee concerns and provide guidance and appropriate solutions pertaining to personnel issues, ensuring accountability in all we do
  • Administrate company and compensation programs to ensure consistency in hiring practices and compensation structures throughout the organization
  • Be our HRIS expert and advise us on how to get the most out the system, maximizing all applicable features and functionality (we currently use ADP)
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Act as the main point of contact for our benefits vendors (health insurance, disability insurance, etc)
    • Coordinate continuing education & development for employees and managers to maintain a supportive workplace culture where people are excited to come to work
    • Annually prepare and oversee the HR budget, making sure the department has the necessary resources for success
    • Oversee our annual open enrollment, and assist employees with their selections and enrollment documents
    • Maintain and manage personnel folders and documents, upholding compliance requirements in all aspects
    • Complete annual filings and other compliance-related tasks, including but not limited to unemployment filings, workers compensation filings, FMLA, EEO-1, and Vets 4212

Qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience in a human resources position required; 3-5 years' experience preferred
  • Microsoft Excel experience required, formula writing preferred (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, etc.) and/or pivot table ability
  • Bachelor's degree in a human resources-related field preferred
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
  • ADP experience preferred
  • Core proficiencies:
    • Think independently and take initiative to develop and improve HR processes and systems
    • Sound interpersonal skills and ability to communicate HR programs & benefits effectively to all employees
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and initiatives simultaneously (you won't be bored!)
    • Collaborate with your peers to accomplish team goals and fulfill our business needs
    • Influence and support American Pest's culture and promote a positive work environment throughout our processes and talent selections
  • Target Start Date July 2, 2018
