If you accept this job, you will gain experience in a variety of accounting functions—accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, account reconciliation, general ledger, financial reporting, etc. You will have direct supervision over the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions of the company, and will report to the Controller. You will oversee our month-end close process and assist with preparing monthly and annual financial reports.

 

Our mid-sized, privately-owned company in Howard County is looking to fill a position for a full-time Accounting Manager. We are located in Fulton, MD in the newly-developed Maple Lawn community. The job will consist primarily of the following job duties:

 

  • Supervise all accounts payable and accounts receivable employees (currently two employees)
  • Be familiar with, and able to provide backup coverage for, all accounts payable and accounts receivable duties, such as:
    • Entering and reconciling customer payments
    • Processing customer credit cards
    • Accounts payable cycle – from receipt of invoices through all steps to payment
    • Export customer invoices
    • Create and process invoices for customers with unique invoicing needs
    • Answer customer and vendor questions regarding all accounting matters
    • Credit memos
    • Customer refunds
    • Bank Reconciliations
    • Communicate with commercial & residential customers regarding account balances, missing payments, billing schedules, and any other questions received via telephone, mail and email
    • Follow all month end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

 

Qualifications:

 

*Four-year accounting degree from an accredited university

*Previous management experience preferred

*2 years of accounting experience required

*Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel – SUMIF, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP formulas are frequently used

*Ideal candidates are meticulous in their work, very detail-oriented, have a high sense of urgency, and have a strong ability to reconcile balances. They also have excellent customer service skills and interact well with our valued customers.
